Houseblogging: 7 working days to go
Posted in Houseblogging on October 19, 2007 | Leave a Comment »
With 7 working days left until handover day (Monday is a public holiday) the house is looking more finished although there is till heaps more to do. Today was a few beers on the veranda with the workers to celebrate progress and look to the final push.
The devil is of course in the detail but [...]
Jog squad blog: it can’t be healthy

I’m on my fourth week of the jog squad regime with runs three times a week. Although I’m not pole position in the squad I’m not the back marker either which is quite a relief.
Not sure that this running lark is completely healthy, whatever my mate Ron says. Even with the stretches before I set [...]

This domestic executive has had more excitement than she normally does in the last twelve hours. A nail biting finish in the England V France rugby match this morning followed the New Zealand Opera Turandot performance last night in town.
Connections between opera and sport were made when Nessun Dorma as chosen by the BBC for [...]
Houseblogging: More from Mrs Meldrew

I am trying very hard not to be Vicky Meldrew again this week but alas not. First it came to light that the tongue and groove wood panelling in the Cloakroom is not at the right height for the basin and tiling and this this morning we were at site seeing the painter and [...]

There is a myth being spread that being a domestic-executive means that you spend your time lounging around watching DVDs and eating boxes of chocolates. I’d like to find that niche someday but in the meantime I’m frantically working through my to do lists and juggling lots of things.
Just as you get one list [...]

It’s fair to say that there’s been a topic of conversation dominating the media, the office, pubs, clubs and bar……how can it have gone so wrong?
After several days of listening to the respective dissections of how the All Blacks played, the French Team’s passion for the win, the usless refereeing and the controversial conditioning training, [...]
Houseblogging: a big step forward

The builders have done a bit of a recovery job this week – on the wardrobes which were the wrong size, the tiling and the painting. The painter wins the productivity award this week having got all the ceilings painted, walls and woodwork primed. It’s now the last 1500m of the marathon towards [...]

It just wasn’t to be – again. The curse of the Rugby World Cup has hit New Zealand again and we watched the pain as a 13-0 half time advantage ebbed away to a 18-20 loss.
How can it be that this could happen – with as many people willing the All Blacks to [...]
Houseblogging: I don’t believe it!

This is my first week of being a domestic executive again ). It should have been a leisurely start after counting down for so long. Not!
I started on Monday by turning into Victoria Meldrew. Yes, the female version spouting “I don’t believe it”. Up on site for my routine visit [...]
